Three French ships arrive under the command of Rene de Laudonuie`re reach the coast of Florida and head north.

Rene de Laudonniere lands at the mouth of the St. John's River and begins to fortify the position with a palisade. This will become Fort Caroline

Captain Bourdet, a privateer, arrives at Fort Caroline.

Captain Bourdet sets sail, heading south. He will surrender to Spanish authorities in Havana and betray de Laudonniere, revealing the location of Fort Caroline

Unhappy with the prospect of work and near starvation, men under the command of Rene de Laudonniere leave Fort Caroline and head for France. They arrive safely and seek pardons for their actions
