Plane crash at Jeffersonville
Sometime after 2:30am a Mitsubishi MU-2B-60 light aircraft crashed with 4 people on-board while returning from Florida. After passing over Macon the aircraft disappeared from radar and attempts to raise the plane on radio failed. Eyewitness accounts had the plane's engines speeding up then slowing down. Wreckage from the crash was spread over a 2-mile area and examination indicated failure of the both wings and a stabilizer. The accident killed the pilot, his wife and 2 children, ages 4 and 6. NTSB cause: Design stress limits of plane exceeded.
