Jim Tumblin walked away with the prize of a Cristie's auction when he bid $16,730 for a sweater worn by Olivia deHaviland, who played the role of Melanie Hamilton in the movie. The collection belonged to Herb Bridges of Sharpsburg, GA., who has published books about collecting Gone With The Wind memorabilia and the three-day premiere in Atlanta in December, 1939.
Tumblin, whose collection is now housed in Marietta's Gone With The Wind Movie Museum, is noted as the owner of the largest Gone With The Wind collection in the world.
