Georgia half-back Joe Geri dies in Milledgeville
Georgia Bulldogs half-back Joe Geri died at the age of 78 in Milledgeville, Georgia after a long illness. In 1948 Geri scored 90 points, converted a league record 36 of 39 extra points and caught 5 passes for the Dogs. In 1949 he scored 94 points and was drafted by the Pittsburg Steelers. During a short professional career he played with the Steelers and the Chicago Cardinals, then went into coaching. Geri is a member of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
