Emily Tubman
Born in Ashland, Virginia, as Emily Harvie Thomas, she married Richard C. Tubman in 1818. Following his death in 1836 Tubman struggled to fulfill his final wish - freeing his slaves until 1842, when they were sent to Liberia.
