Cumming, GA farm destroyed
Dallas, Texas builders Centrex Homes made a big mistake in July. They accidentally tore down the 80-year old farmhouse that belonged to James Wheeler. He grew up in the home.
It was the first missing home report filed in Forsyth County since Deputy Jean Garner started working at the Sheriff's Office there 16 years ago. In the investigation the sheriff's office determined the home had been accidently destroyed, making it a matter for civil courts. A spokesman for Centrex said, "We just want to make it right for Mr. Wheeler."
The story, which first appeared in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution on August 31, 2004, was picked up by the Associated Press. On September 1st, Wheeler's story achieved a notable milestone, as it was the most emailed story from yahoo.com.
