Seeking revenge for the massacre at Fort Caroline, a war ship under the command of Dominiue de Gourges leaves France and heads to the Fort. He engages Indians, whom the occupants of Fort Caroline had befriended, and as a combined force attack the Spanish stronghold, easily defeating the garrison. Nearly all the Spaniards are killed in the attack.
