Polk County, Georgia
Name derivation:Named in honor of James Polk, President of the United States from Tennessee who advocated "Manifest Destiny" and garnered the support of Andrew Jackson, still wildly popular. When he tried to purchase California from Mexico, his offer was rebuked, so he sent Zachary Taylor to Texas to threaten the government. Luckily for Polk the United States won the Mexican American War
